It cannot give you the whole conversation as one document, with your prompts, its answers, the tables and the images it generated, in a layout you would hand to someone. AI to PDF does that from the tab you already have open, and leaves the thinking out.

Gemini has an export. It is just not this one.
Of the AI chats we support, Gemini is the one with the most built-in ways to get something out. Under every response there is Export to Docs (and Export to Sheets for tables), and since April 2026 you can simply ask Gemini to “create a PDF of this answer” or “make this a Word file” and it produces the file inside the conversation. For the whole history there is Google Takeout. So the honest question is not “how do I export Gemini chat content” but “which of these fits what I need”, and the answer splits cleanly in two.
You do not need an extension when you want one answer as a file. Gemini wrote a report, a cover letter, a table; ask it for a PDF or a Docs export and you are done. That is the best route for that job, and we would rather tell you so than pretend otherwise.
You do need one when the thing you want to keep is the conversation: your prompts and the answers together, in order, as one document. Gemini’s own tools work per response and drop your side of the exchange. Takeout gives you activity records for the entire account, not a document for this chat. Printing the page prints the app: sidebar, composer, dark theme, and only the part of the transcript that is loaded. What AI to PDF does on gemini.google.com
It reads the conversation directly from the page, walks up through the transcript so older exchanges that Gemini loads on demand are collected too, and rebuilds everything as a document. Then Chrome saves that document as a PDF, locally, or the extension hands you a Word or Markdown file. Gemini to PDF becomes one click, and the same click gives you Gemini to Word or Gemini to Markdown.
- Both sides of the exchange. Each turn is labelled You or Assistant, with a page break between messages, so the document reads like a transcript rather than a wall of answers.
- Thinking is left out. The collapsed reasoning Gemini shows above some answers is scratch work. It is excluded, along with the sources list and the “Gemini can make mistakes” line under each response.
- Generated images are kept. An image Gemini created inside the chat is embedded in the PDF and the .docx, read from the page in your own logged-in browser.
- Code blocks keep their language. Gemini labels every block (Python, SQL, JavaScript). The label is kept and the code is set in a monospace font with ligatures off, so nothing turns into arrows on paper.
- Tables keep their columns. The tables Gemini produces come out as tables, with the table menu and the “export” buttons stripped rather than printed as loose text.
- A real title. The Gemini tab is always called “Google Gemini”, so the document takes its title from your first prompt instead.
It works on a normal chat (/app/…), on a Gem (/gem/…) and on a share link (/share/…), so a conversation someone shared with you can be exported the same way as your own.
Three options, nothing else
PDF, Word or Markdown, and All messages / Last reply / Pick. “Last reply” is the fast way to hand someone Gemini’s final answer without the rounds that led to it. “Pick” puts a checkbox above every message. Light or dark document theme for the PDF (the Word file is always light), and that is the entire interface.
The Word export gives you an editable .docx with the same layout as the PDF: speaker blocks, code, tables, images. The Markdown export gives you the conversation as GitHub-flavoured Markdown with fenced code blocks and pipe tables, which is what you want for Obsidian, a wiki or a pull request description. Markdown is free and unlimited.
One layout across every AI you use
Most people who ask Gemini things also ask ChatGPT or Claude things, and a Gemini exporter that only knows Gemini leaves you with three different-looking files from three different tools. AI to PDF is one extension for ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, DeepSeek and Grok. It recognises the site from the URL, there is no “pick your AI” step, and a Gemini conversation exported today looks like the Claude conversation you exported yesterday: same fonts, same speaker blocks, same footer. Local by design
A Gemini conversation often contains the things you would not paste into a stranger’s web form: a contract you asked it to summarise, a spreadsheet you uploaded, a health question. Several Gemini exporters build their PDFs on the developer’s server, which means the conversation is uploaded, converted and sent back. AI to PDF has no endpoint that accepts conversation content. The document is rendered inside your browser and saved by Chrome; the only request the extension makes is a licence and quota check carrying an anonymous install ID and a daily export count. What is not covered yet
We only list what we have verified on the live site. Text, headings, lists, code, tables, quotes, links and generated images are tested. Files and images you attach to your own prompts, Deep Research reports and Canvas documents have not been tested yet, so if a conversation leans on those, open the export and check it before you send it on. When those are verified they will appear in the changelog.

How do I export a Gemini conversation to PDF?
Install AI to PDF, open the conversation on gemini.google.com, click the extension button and choose PDF. A print-ready tab opens with “Save as PDF” already selected in Chrome’s print dialog. Choose Word or Markdown in the same panel if you want an editable .docx or a .md file instead.
Gemini can already make PDF files. When do I need an extension?
You do not need one when you want a single answer as a file: ask Gemini to create a PDF or Word file of that answer, or use Export to Docs under the response. You need AI to PDF when you want the whole conversation as one document, with your own prompts included, in a layout that stays the same across ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini, or when you want Markdown for a notes app.
Is Gemini’s thinking included in the PDF?
No, on purpose. The collapsed reasoning Gemini shows above some answers is scratch work, not the answer, and it would make the document far longer. The visible answer is exported in full; the thinking, the sources list and the disclaimer line under each response are left out.
Are images that Gemini generated included?
Yes. Images Gemini generated inside the conversation are embedded in the PDF and the Word file, and they are read from the page inside your own browser, so nothing has to be uploaded. Files and images you attached to your own prompts have not been verified yet, so check the export before relying on them.
Why is the document title my first prompt?
Because the Gemini page has no chat title of its own: the browser tab always says “Google Gemini”. AI to PDF uses the first line of your first prompt as the document title instead, which is usually the best short description of what the conversation is about.
Is my Gemini conversation sent to your server?
No. The document is built inside your browser from the page you have open and saved by Chrome’s print engine or downloaded as a file. The only thing our server sees is an anonymous install ID and a daily export count, used for the free limit and PRO licences.
