Every export extension has to turn the conversation on the page into a PDF somehow. There are two ways to do it. The first is to send the conversation to the vendor's server, render it there, and send the PDF back. Server-side rendering has real advantages too, to be fair: the vendor controls the rendering environment, so output is identical on every machine, and it can offer formats a browser cannot easily produce, such as DOCX. If you need those, the trade-off may be worth it to you.

If you analyse your chats in a spreadsheet, feed them to a script, or post screenshots, that is a real advantage we do not match. It also has by far the largest install base of the three, 200,000 users on its Chrome Web Store page on 21 September 2026, and a long track record of updates when chatgpt.com changes. Where AI Exporter wins

Breadth. It exports to Word and syncs to Notion, which we do not do at all, and it lists 16 or more AI sites, including Grok, Copilot, Perplexity, NotebookLM, Kimi and Qwen, where we cover four. It also runs in Firefox. If your work lives in Word or Notion, or you use AI sites beyond ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and DeepSeek, it is the more capable tool and the right AI Exporter alternative is probably no alternative at all.
